On May 4th 2024, we gathered at the University of Nairobi Kisumu Campus for the GDG-hosted Build with AI, an event focussed on integrating Gemini AI into applications via an Application Programming Interface (API) key. The event showcased how AI can generate valuable information from text prompts. I will provide an overview of the event. I will highlight two intriguing one-on-one sessions. First, I will recap the creation of the Gemiverse application using Flutter/Dart and, secondly, I will speak about the development of Outbard application using Python.

Session 1: Building Gemiverse with Flutter/Dart - Olvine George

The first session of the event focused on Gemiverse; an application developed using Flutter. Gemiverse serves as a comprehensive app that not only provides users with detailed information about their prompts but also generates captivating art from text prompts. This fusion of AI and creative expression opens up a world of opportunities for artists and enthusiasts.

During the session, we were guided through the process of integrating the Gemini AI into the Flutter framework. This integration allowed Gemiverse to harness the power of AI to analyze prompts and retrieve relevant information.

Session 2: Building Outbard with Python - Collins Odhiambo

Using Gemini AI, Outbard demonstrated how AI can analyze and interpret prompts to generate valuable insights. Attendees learned how to leverage the Gemini AI's functionalities, enabling Outbard to retrieve comprehensive information and present it in a user-friendly manner by building the tools along with the speaker.
